The TEPOZTLÁN Chair
Roberto Eibenschutz
1969-1970

This is the third piece by Roberto Eibenschutz that we have added to our Catalogue at Clásicos Mexicanos, and one of the two new pieces to be introduced in 2022. Like his Mezquitic table and chair, the architect made this chair for himself, for a house in Tepoztlán, as an exercise in materials. The chair is made of two thick glass panes held together by three cylinders on which the seat rests and to which it is held. The single, original chair, now in the house of one of his daughters, was upholstered in an off-white wool fabric. At Clásicos Mexicanos we have worked together with Eibenschutz to develop the chair with slightly updated dimensions, making it a bit wider and taller in the armrests without losing its original form. It comes upholstered in Hallingdal 65 by Kvadrat textiles in both white and mustard yellow.
