The M1C COFRAN Table

Armando Franco
1955

Armando Franco adapted the modular concept he developed in his architectural projects to his furniture, designing pieces whose parts were hand-made or turned in advance and then put through an assembly line, also by hand, an elegant solution for his time, even if quite complex by today’s industrial standards.

The base and frame of this cedar wood table is composed of seven solid pieces, formed by hand and assembled into an H-shaped base, which runs through the top at four points and is secured by visible pressure wedges. The top itself is made of six or more cedar planks set side-by-side, of fixed or variable widths, running the length of the table. Although Franco designed this table in 1955, he saw it come to life for the first time in 2019, after we developed it with his, as one of the first pieces to be produced at Clásicos Mexicanos.
